Ancient Rock Art Discovery in Venezuela: Unveiling Traces of a Lost Culture

Recent archaeological efforts in Venezuela's Canaima National Park have uncovered 20 new rock art sites, revealing a wealth of ancient glyphs and pictograms that could shed light on a previously unknown culture. This discovery is significant, as the artworks, potentially older than those found in Brazil, suggest a sophisticated society that once thrived in this region.

The intricate carvings and vibrant paintings offer a glimpse into the spiritual beliefs, daily life, and environmental interactions of the area's early inhabitants. Led by José Miguel Pérez-Gómez, the research team’s findings position Canaima National Park as a crucial site for understanding Venezuela’s deep historical roots and the rich cultural tapestry of its ancient civilizations.
